Who’s in the race?
Many names have come up to buy two new teams of IPL. Many characters, including RPSG’s Sanjeev Goenka, Manchester United owner Glazer Family, Naveen Jindal, Adani Group, Kotak Group, CVC Partners, Group-M, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, are in the race to buy new teams.
BCCI may have bumper earnings
BCCI can be rich with two new IPL teams. All those who had to apply for bidding had to submit a form of Rs 10 lakh. Apart from this, the base price of any unit is Rs 2 thousand crores, but it is believed that a team can sell for Rs 7 to 10 thousand crores. In such a situation, BCCI has high hopes for this bid.
This will not be the first time ten teams will participate in IPL; before this, it happened in 2011. Then Pune Warriors, Kochi Tuskers were included. Kochi was dropped after just one season because of some controversy. But since 2014, 8 teams have returned to the IPL again.
