Significantly, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has recently filed a complaint against Bharti Airtel with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). According to BSNL, Sunil Mittal’s firm has threatened that if BSNL does not consider Tata Teleservices and Bharti as a merged company then it will disconnect its customers’ calls.

However, DoT has also not included the record of a merger from Tata Teleservices’ mobility business in Bharti Airtel and Bharti Hexagon. After receiving Airtel’s October 30 letter. BSNL wrote, “Guidelines from DoT are needed as the interests of the company and its customers are at stake.”

An Airtel spokesperson on the entire matter said, “DoT was informing of this merger”. The spokesman said that “The Registrar of Companies has also included this merger in the record”. At the same time, the company considers corporate governance and compliance.
