Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram has rolled out a slew of new features and said that recent video posts shorter than 15 minutes would be shared as reels. The platform said that this feature would be rolled out to users in the coming weeks and also mentioned that videos posted before this change will remain as videos and will not become reels.
“We want everyone to be able to express their creative ideas easily, so we’re adding more features,” the company said in a blogpost.
“We’re always working on ways to improve your Instagram experience. We’ll continue to build out features that make it easier and more fun to create and share reels on Instagram.”
The platform said it is also expanding tools for remixes to help users enhance how they tell stories on Instagram while collaborating with their favourite creators and friends.
In the coming weeks, the company said that users would be able to remix public photos. It inspires users to create their unique reels.
They can choose between a green screen, horizontal or vertical split-screen, or picture-in-picture reaction views to add their video commentary to the existing reels.
“This currently applies to reels less than 90 seconds long. If your account is private, your reels will still be shown only to your followers,” the company said.
