Microblogging site Twitter has banned the account of journalist Rana Ayyub. Twitter has taken this action under the IT Act 2000. Last Sunday, Rana had given this information by posting a notice on his account. She wrote, “Hello Twitter, what is this?” On June 26, Rana Ayyub shared the notice, noting that his account was being put on hold. The law has taken this action.
Since then, tweets have been made on Twitter about this continuously. In the notice received by Rana, Twitter has said that “Twitter believes in defending and respecting the voice of those who use our services. But if we get a legal notice to remove the content from any organization, the account holder is informed about it. This is our policy.”
