Want to know the password of the WiFi network to which your phone is connected? Finding a network password can be important for several reasons; sometimes you might have forgotten the password for a saved network, or sometimes you don’t want others to connect to the WiFi you’re already connected to but don’t know the password. . Well, to help you out, we will tell you some ways to find out the connected WiFi password on your phone.
Ways to Find out Connected WiFi Password
If you are running the latest version of Android, then you can easily find a WiFi password. Otherwise, on older Androids as well as iPhones, this is not an easy task. Let’s check out these ways to find the password for your WiFi network.
Find Wi-Fi Password on Android
Firstly, if you are running Android 10 or above, you can easily access it under your network settings. This way:
- Go to your phone’s Settings and select Network & Internet
- Here tap on Wi-Fi and select the network whose password you want to know. (You’ll need to tap Saved networks to see other networks if you’re not currently connected to them).
- Now, please tap on the gear icon next to it and then tap on Share.
- Verify that it is you, and then the network password will appear at the bottom of the QR code.
However, if your Android phone runs Android 9 Pie or earlier, you can only view the Wi-Fi password using third-party apps. More importantly, you will need to root your device for these apps to work. One such app is WiFi Password Viewer.
Check Router Admin Page
If the connection is new and no one has changed the password yet, you can check the admin page of the Wi-Fi router to check the password. You can prevent Wi-Fi network information on your phone.
On your Android phone, go to that WiFi network settings by following the steps mentioned above, now tap on Advanced, and under Network details, you’ll be able to see the router’s IP address, which will be something like 192.168.01.
After that, type this into your browser’s address bar, and it will ask you to log into your router with the username and password you created when setting up the router. If you don’t even know, you probably haven’t changed the default ones. So, try admin /admin.
Once logged in, each router administrator has a different set of steps for finding a Wi-Fi password. Try looking for the Settings or Wi-Fi name on that page, and you can find it.
Find Wi-Fi Password on Your iPhone.
You cannot directly find Wi-Fi passwords on your iPhone as Apple does not provide any such feature in iOS. You can’t find it even if it’s saved to Keychain. However, there are a few other options for sharing your iPhone’s WiFi.
First, if you’re running iOS 11 and above, and the other person is also on the same OS version, you can share your Wi-Fi in just a few steps.
A few other requirements for this feature to work: that person’s Apple ID must be in your Contacts app, and Bluetooth must be enabled on both devices. Also, both the devices need to be nearby.
Now, here’s how to share WiFi:
- Hold your iPhone near your friend’s iPhone.
- Now, your friend should try to connect to the same Wi-Fi network that you want to share.
- You will see a “Share Your Wi-Fi” pop-up on your iPhone screen.
- Tap “Share Password”.
Simply. Your Wi-Fi will connect to your iPhone. Then tap Done on your iPhone.
Secondly, other people can connect to the same WiFi as your iPhone via your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot. When you enable Hotspot on your iPhone, your device acts as a Wi-Fi router, and anyone can connect to it using a password, which is very easy to find.
Follow the steps mentioned below:
- Go to your iPhone’s Settings.
- Then tap on Personal Hotspot.
- Here, next to the Wi-Fi Password menu, will be the password for your Hotspot.
That’s it; you can stay connected to WiFi and give your Hotspot password to anyone who wants to connect to your Wi-Fi.
