Pakistan: Blast Inside Mosque In Peshawar, At Least 30 Killed, 50 Injured


Blast In Peshawar: On Friday, there was a loud explosion inside a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan. At least 30 people have died, and 50 people have been injured. Hospital officials say that 30 bodies have been brought to Lady Reading Hospital.

This incident is in the Kocha Risaldar area. They confirm that Peshawar’s CCPO (Capital City Police Officer) Ijaz Ahsan said that a policeman died in the blast. Asim Khan, media manager of Lady Reading Hospital, said that 30 bodies had been brought to the hospital so far.

The CCPO said that according to initial reports, two assailants tried to enter a mosque in the city’s Qissa Khwani market and opened fire on the police officers guarding there. In which a policeman was killed. While the other is seriously injured. The CCPO said that people were targeted in the mosque after the attack, and there was a loud explosion. The people around are in a lot of panic after the incident.


Blast Inside Mosque In Peshawar

No one took responsibility for the attack.

Police officer Waheed Khan told the AP that the blast happened when people offering prayers had gathered at the Kocha Risaldar mosque for prayers. So far, no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. Shayan Haider, one of the eyewitnesses, was also entering the mosque when a massive explosion took place.

Because of this, he fell on the road. He said, ‘I opened my eyes, and there were dust and dead bodies scattered everywhere.’ According to the account of the CCPO of Peshawar, evidence has been collected from the spot. But it is too early to tell what kind of explosion it was.


Chaos in the hospital

There was chaos in the emergency department of Lady Reading Hospital. Doctors had to face difficulties to take many injured people to the operation theatre. The spokesperson said the hospital had been put on red alert, and more medical personnel had been called to LRH.

Local people say that there are many markets in this area, and there is a lot of crowd during Friday prayers. In a statement, Prime Minister Imran Khan strongly condemned the attack and directed immediate medical attention to the injured, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
