Fire In South Africa Parliament: A massive fire has broken out in both the houses of the country’s Parliament located in Cape Town, South Africa. According to local time, the fire department was called to the spot at 5 am. In the video that surfaced on social media, it can be seen that black smoke is coming out of the building. There is also a fear that the building may get damaged due to fire and collapse. At present, there is no information about any casualties.

Flames can be seen coming out of the roof of the Parliament. Thick black smoke can also be seen from miles away. The cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, and it is not clear if anyone is inside the building. Jermaine Carles, the spokesman for the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service, said the bitumen on the roof is also melting, indicating extreme heat.

There have been reports of cracks in some walls, indicating a collapse. A fire broke out hours after the state funeral of Archbishop Desmond Tutu at St George’s Cathedral near Parliament.

36 firefighters are present at the scene

JP Smith, a member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security, said there was a fire in the National Assembly building, and the flames had spread to the roof. Smith said the fire could not be controlled, and reports of cracks in some of the building’s walls were confirmed. Smith said there are 36 firefighters at the scene, and more resources may be needed to douse the blaze. The alarm went off at 5 in the morning. It has been said that the fire started from the third floor and then spread to the gym.

Parliament is divided into three sections.

Pictures of the fire have surfaced on social media, in which flames can be seen coming out. Apart from this, firefighters can also be seen dousing the fire on the spot. The cause of the fire has not been officially informed yet. The Houses of Parliament in Cape Town consists of three sections, including the original and oldest building, which was completed in 1884.

At the same time, new sections were created in the 1920s and 1980s, where the National Assembly was present. In April last year, a fire broke out in an area of the University of Cape Town library.
