The US Supreme Court has abolished the constitutional right to abortion. In one of its decisions, the court overturned a 50-year-old decision that legally approved abortion. Since then, demonstrations have been held in different cities of the country.
The debate on this decision has started on social media as well. #Abstinence and #SexStrike are trending on Twitter in America. Many women say that the legal right to abortion should continue and seek men’s support on this issue.
People on Twitter are giving different reactions to this issue. Technician Brianna Campbell, 24, told nypost.com – If you’re a man and don’t take to the streets for my rights, you don’t deserve to have sex with me.

At the same time, 22-year-old event coordinator Caroline Healy said – is sex more important for men than women’s rights. A girl who came to Manhattan’s Union Square to protest against the new abortion law said – Women should not be taken away from their constitutional right to abortion.
Rape victim Maya Demri insists that women “need to do everything within the legal framework to regain their rights”. Demari said that sitting here, we cannot even imagine the pain of those women/girls who become pregnant after rape. Maya Demri says that if the world thinks they can constantly torture women, it is incorrect.
Another woman said that we could not take the risk of unwanted pregnancy. That is why we will no longer have sex with any man, even if he is our husband, unless we want to become pregnant.
A campaign was run on Twitter with #SexStrike regarding this. More than 50 thousand tweets were made on the hashtag. Along with this, #Abstinence also trended on Twitter. Abstinence means not having sex or being abstinent. A female user told men in support of the abortion law – if our choice is denied, your choice will also be rejected.
Significantly, President Joe Biden has also condemned the decision of the Supreme Court. Biden said the decision put women’s health and lives at risk. He said that he would try to ensure that the authorities in the states where abortion is legal do not stop women from coming for abortion.
